In the News

A critical part of the Amundsen’s mandate is the communication of its multidisciplinary research program to the public through high-level media and communication outlets. The participation of media in the onboard expedition, as well as numerous interviews and special features focusing on the Amundsen’s researchers and managers have resulted in the publication of over 550 online and printed news stories and radio and television broadcasts since 2003. Nationally, some of the highlights include: Discovery Channel’s Mighty Ships, Canadian Geographic, CBC’s The Nature of Things, Radio-Canada, The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Montreal Gazette, Le Devoir and Ottawa Citizen as well as northern news outlets like Nunatsiaq News and Up Here magazine. Internationally, the Amundsen has been featured in over 20 countries on the BBC, CNN, Dan Rather Reports, and NBC’s The Today Show as well as in Nature, TIME, and GEO magazines.
